Frequently Asked Questions
How do I make a booking?
Bookings can be made by contacting us via email, phone, social media, or through our website enquiry forms.
To arrange a booking, we generally require:
the full name of each rider,
age,
approximate height and weight,
and riding experience level.
Once availability is confirmed, a deposit or payment is required to secure the booking.
Do I have to make a booking, or can I just walk in?
Yes, bookings are required for all rides, lessons, lead rides, parties, and horse experiences.
We do not generally accept walk-ins, as horses and staff need to be scheduled and allocated in advance. Many sessions book out ahead of time, particularly weekends and school holidays.
We recommend booking as early as possible to avoid missing out on your preferred date and time.
How long is a booking held without payment?
Tentative bookings are generally held for approximately 24 hours unless otherwise advised.
If payment is not received within this timeframe, the booking may be automatically released and the requested date or time may no longer be available.
Please note that sending payment after the hold period does not guarantee the booking is still available, as places may have already been allocated to other customers.
Are deposits refundable?
Deposits are refundable with more than 72 hours notice prior to your booking, minus a $10 administration fee.
Deposits are non-refundable for cancellations, less than booked riders attending, rescheduling requests, or booking reductions made within 72 hours of the booking.
Can I reschedule my booking?
Yes, bookings may be rescheduled with more than 72 hours notice, subject to availability. Rescheduling requests made within 72 hours of the booking are not eligible for refund or transfer of deposit.
What happens if I cancel on the day?
Same day cancellations and no-shows will result in forfeiture of all monies paid. As horses and staff are allocated in advance, we are unable to refill bookings at short notice.
What happens if I am late?
All riders are required to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to their booking for check-in, helmet fitting, and the compulsory safety briefing.
Late arrivals may miss the safety briefing and may be unable to participate. Refunds or credits are not provided in these situations.
Do rides go ahead in the rain?
Yes, rides and lessons generally continue in light rain and varying weather conditions.
Weather and ground conditions are assessed on the day of the booking. If conditions are considered unsafe, we will contact customers to reschedule.
If the booking is proceeding as normal, standard cancellation terms still apply.
Can I cancel because rain is forecast?
No. Weather forecasts often change and bookings cannot be cancelled based on forecasted rain alone.
We assess actual conditions on the day and will contact you if a booking needs to be postponed for safety reasons.
What happens if Sydney Horse Riding cancels the booking?
If we cancel a booking due to unsafe weather, horse welfare concerns, staffing issues, or unforeseen circumstances, customers will be offered either:
a rescheduled booking, or
a full refund.
Are gift vouchers refundable?
No, gift vouchers are non-refundable and cannot be redeemed for cash. Voucher extensions may be considered at management discretion where contact is made before or shortly after expiry.
Can I transfer my booking to another person?
In many cases yes, provided the replacement rider meets the age, weight, and experience requirements for the activity booked. Please contact us prior to the booking to discuss any changes.
What if I have never ridden before?
That is completely fine. Our beginner rides and lessons are specifically designed for riders with little or no experience. Please ensure you book the correct activity level suitable for your experience.
What happens if a rider is not suitable for the booked ride?
For safety reasons, management reserves the right to modify or refuse participation where a rider:
does not meet safety requirements,
exceeds weight limits,
behaves unsafely,
or is not capable of safely participating in the booked activity.
Experienced rides require riders to safely demonstrate the required riding ability.
What should I wear?
Riders must wear:
long pants,
enclosed shoes,
and an approved helmet while mounted (helmets are supplied).
Loose clothing, skirts, open shoes, and high heels are not permitted.
Can I use my phone during the ride?
No. Phones are not permitted during rides for safety and insurance reasons. Photos will be taken before or after the ride in designated areas and shared with you after the ride.
